What do others say about me? Well, first of all I have – in addition to my law degree – the following qualifications:
- Publicly appointed and sworn translator for the English language (Regional Court, Schwerin, June 2000)
- Certified accountant (Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Schwerin, December 2000)
- Financial translator for the English language (Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg, January 2001)
Based on these two language qualifications, my application for membership in the respected professional association “Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer” (BDÜ) was accepted. Up until my move to France, I was treasurer of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Chapter.
KPMG, Frankfurt, was kind enough to say this about my many years of working with them:
“Mr. Darby has been translating audit reports on the annual and consolidated financial statements of companies from a wide variety of industries, some of them with very demanding content, from German into English for KPMG Frankfurt for many years.
Mr. Darby has excellent specialist knowledge and handles our translation assignments promptly, professionally and reliably. His translations are virtually free of errors. Mr Darby meets our high quality standards even under tight deadlines. Based on this very positive long-term business relationship and the pleasant cooperation, we can unreservedly recommend Mr. Darby.”

My contacts at Deloitte in Munich also had kind words to say about me:
“Mr. Darby has been translating and proofreading for us in the Brand & Communications and Marketing areas for some time – we are very satisfied with his work.”

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Since February 2017 I have been taking part in a distance learning course in English to become a “Chartered Management Accountant” (with CIMA). This roughly corresponds to my existing German qualification as a certified accountant.
At the beginning of June 2019 I took part in a BDÜ seminar for Sworn and Authorized Interpreters and Translators in Berlin.
